Anima Crystals

Long ago when God created Terrastrium he filled the world with many beings, the humanoid races(humans, elves, dwarves, gnomes, and so on)he gifted a special means to use their magic, when a being reaches the age of 10-13 they are likely to unlock their magic. Till then children may often have subconscious moments of random magic that effects the area around them. If the magic isn't unlocked by the time they are 16 they will die from it corroding them from within.

The magic can be unlocked upon having a revelation of self, another magic user forcing the power active, or by trauma. This special magic is in the form of magic crystals that form from their souls, the power is chosen due to the circumstances of the wielder, whether by choice of power, or trauma. The last method is with forced activation, if the wielder didn't have an ideal power chosen subconsciously at that point they will be given nullification. After activation, these crystals can be summoned from within one's body and soul, often appearing over one's heart.

These crystals act as a conduit for the magic to be used by the wielder, each wielder can create multiple pieces of their crystal. Humanoids are capable of using other powers outside of their core one, just not to the point of mastery. Unless they have been gifted a power crystal by someone they have a close bond of trust and love with(close family and friends,)after bonding with it for a long period they can do higher-level spells of that power. If the giver feels that the relationship has been strained to the point of no return then the crystal loses power. To use that type of power again one would have to get a replacement but would only be able to cast basic spells of that type.

The crystals while they can be fashioned and crafted, they aren't destroyed unless certain circumstances occur.

If the wielder is killed the crystal will dust and lose its power, this also applies to sold crystals. Thus the need to replace them periodically, some crystals may last for decades or even millenniums if a family member of the crystal puts some of their aurae into it. As the crystal will last the amount of intended lifespan of the creator or aura giver.

Due to the demand for crystals, a person can make a fair amount of gold by selling them. This lead to those desperate for cash or greedy for wealth to do criminal acts. In the darkest days a group of criminals developed an advanced method of crystal activation, but when used on an already activated person can sever the core crystal from them. The crystal will last its natural intended years but its wielder will begin to slowly decline in health till they die. Crystal wielders can even forcefully sever their bond themselves(though it's not recommended if one is either desperate or not in their right mind.) If the person can rebond with their crystal they will regain their health but will be less potent with their magic.

Due to the rarity and great need for nullification crystals to contain dangerous criminal magic users, during the founding of ancient society many null wielders were either forced to work in law enforcement, private security, or nullification factories. Those that didn't were forcibly severed from their core crystal or were imprisoned and tortured into creating crystals. After a century this practice was seen as inhumane and banned. Though some societies still employ this secretly when theirs's a nullification shortage.


These horrible acts toward nullification wielders led to an organization, The Soul Protectors. This order was created as a means of protecting null users, forming shelters, and learning how to wield nullification offensive and defensively, they worked to provide a place of safety for them. However over the years as the black market and other shady individuals continued to harm null users, a change happened within the order. Those who felt that the results were too far and few, took a new stance, and a civil war within the order took place. The factions of peace versus violence divided them till those who chose violence left forming their order The Soul Slayers, whose main purpose was killing magic users that could be a threat to a null user. As the Slayers felt it was justice to bring harm to those who were involved or complacent in their pain. The Soul Slayers bring fear into the hearts of any whom they meet, as by now it doesn't matter if you hurt them or not they will hurt you regardless.


It is nearly impossible to have one's core power change, the only way it happens is if the person while still connected to their power crystal goes through a dramatic/traumatic change in self. Their core crystal becomes corrupted and they can take on a darker power for example a powerful castor of shadow magic(not a dark power) goes dark and gains the blood or curse power. They may still have the ability to use their past power but it isn't as strong as before. Due to the corruption, these crystals will not work in the hands of others, only by their core wielder. As such these dark crystal users may decide to work in the dark underground of the world, providing their services if you have the coin and are willing to get your hands dirty.


As the magic is a part of themselves and could build up inside, it is recommended to use it throughout one's day. As such magic is a large part of society, helping in professions and even casual parts of everyday life. As a matter of convenience to not summon one's crystal every time, the crystals are often fashioned into jewelry or for the more adept user placed into a weapon(such as a bladed, staff, or bow.) The gifting of jewelry or a weapon with one's power to another is seen as a sign of great trust and friendship(rings are for engagement/marriage.)

Nullification= the ability to cancel out and absorb the magic of others, this crystal is only gotten due to forced activation. The crystal when used by a nullification wielder can turn absorbed magic into revitalizing energy within the null user's body. Due to its ability, it is often seen as the perfect security for businesses and officers of the law if the wielder isn't healthy enough for such a profession they often work in factories or can be self-employed by selling their crystals in a contract with the aforementioned professions.

Fire= the ability to wield and control fire, this crystal is useful in everyday life as it's practical. In a profession, it's perfect for chefs and firefighters as the ability to control the flames can lead to a safer situation. Though for those who wish to be magically adept they can either be a professor of Fire studies or an adventurer. Regardless, fire wielders are a tough battle.

Earth= the ability to wield and control earth, this crystal is useful for those doing yardwork or caring for their gardens. If taught a few tricks it can help keep fruits and vegetables fresh longer. In professions, it's perfect for Landscapers and members of construction crews. Those who are magically adept are a tough fight, earthquakes vines of thorns can win a fight.

Water= the ability to wield and control water, this crystal is useful for household chores. Core wielders are strong swimmers. In professions, it's perfect for swim instructors, lifeguards, sailors, and firefighters. For the magically adept a professor or an adventurer would be a tough fight.

Lightning= the ability to wield and control lightning, great for fixing electrical issues. This crystal is perfect for electricians and engineers, it helps to power many devices leading to advanced technology in medieval times. Whether in teaching or fighting one doesn't want to fight a lightning wielder.

Air= the ability to wield and control air, great for keeping one's home cool with clean air. This was often wielded by sailors to keep the wind in the sails. While to many it may not seem dangerous in the hands of the adept it can form into deadly winds and tornados. It can even allow one to fly.

Acid= the ability to wield and control a dangerous chemical that in daily use is mainly for cleaning. This crystal is used by scientists and alchemists to improve one's daily life, though adept wielders can teach about it, it's the ones who fight with it that are feared.

Light= the ability to wield and control light, a power closely connected to god it is often wielded as a way to brighten a room or path. As a profession, it is mainly wielded by priests and clerics, due to its close connection to god this is taught by priests in temples to disciples hoping to join the order.

Shadow= the ability to wield and control shadows, this crystal's daily use is mostly to help with shade or even as a means of fast travel through shadows. As a profession, it is used by the elite squads of law enforcement or the personal guards and assassins of royal houses. Due to its secretive nature, it's often born from those whose families are in such a profession or due to necessity such as a thief that steals from the shadows. Due to the possibility of it being used for criminal acts, it is not sold on the open market, though if one has connections the black market is full of them.

Divination= the ability to see into the past and future of one's self or another, this crystal in daily use can be used to remind one's self of something that was forgotten. As this crystal's ability is connected to god it is often wielded by a priest or a fortuneteller, with the latter requiring an authentic permit to operate. If a witness of a crime has a muddled memory due to trauma a priest/ess can be called in the discern the past by unlocking the truth with help of a mind crystal wielder.

Healing= the ability to heal wounds of one's self or another, this crystal is great for healing minor injuries and ailments, and the profession of doctors, priests, and clerics, can be taught by professors in medical school for normal injuries. For the adept, the priest and clerics are the best for magically inflicted wounds.

Gravity= the ability to wield and control gravity, this crystal is great for those who're clumsy and tend to stumble. It can reverse the gravity of a falling object or person, the professions of this crystal are strange but useful to cleaning staff or librarians. As an adept those that teach it mainly do so for practicality, unless it's for adventuring then it can get harsh as the force of gravity can be crushing on an opponent. It is great for those wanting to fly through.

Illusion= the ability to create and control figments of one's imagination. With some illusions taking physical form. This crystal is great for showing one's ideas, with their profession often involved in entertainment. Though in battle it can be great for distraction.

Construct = the ability to create and control golems or tools made of energy, one could make wings. This crystal is considered a tool of many trades, blacksmiths, engineers, and alchemists. In battle the golems and weapons created can aid in the fight.

Energy = the ability to wield and control energy, in daily use it's good for boosting one's physic, it can act as a substitute for electricity so electricians and engineers are a common profession. They are a strong force when it comes to battle.

Mind = the ability to lift objects and to speak telepathically with others, this crystal is great for sending reminders to your loved ones. Due to its ability to read others' minds, it makes it easier to work in Psychology, it's also useful for law enforcement and the military as a way of checking on soldiers and gaining information. Due to its sensitivity, it is restricted to only licensed professionals. It is available on the black market.

Transmutation = The wielder can transform, alter or transmute matter, energy, elements, objects, or beings (animals, mythical beings, etc.), etc. into anything else, either completely or partially, permanently or temporarily. This crystal's profession is usually, an alchemist, doctor, scientist, and engineer. It is restricted to government and medical use due to its ability to recreate forged currency. It is on the black market.

Sound = the ability to wield and control sound, music can magically lift a person's mood and a sound crystal can heighten a person's hearing aiding those who are deaf. This crystal profession works in entertainment but also as doctors who make hearing aids.

Portal = the ability to create and use portals, whether creating a physical portal for others or one for yourself to teleport one's self. This crystal is useful in catching fallen items and landing them in one's hand. For the profession as long as the wielder knows the location or person they can portal, so it's great for servicemen, such as military, police, fireman

Technological = the ability to use magic to affect or replicate the technology. The user is capable of communicating with technological entities, using their own body as a conduit to technology, and casting spells and enchantments that result in some sort of cyber-related effect. The user is utilizing science and technology as though it was a paranormal element like fire or blood.

Void = the ability to able to perform void magic, and manipulate voids, usually for destructive capabilities. Due to its nature, it's mainly an adept profession such as teaching, it's useful in combat and quite deadly

Magnetic =The user can create, shape, and manipulate metal, a solid material (an element, compound, or alloy) that is typically hard, shiny, and features good electrical and thermal conductivity. Metals are generally malleable—they can be hammered or pressed permanently out of shape without breaking or cracking—as well as fusible (able to be fused or melted) and ductile (able to be drawn out into a thin wire).

Time = Users can create, shape, move, control, interact and manipulate time, the indefinite continued progress of existence and events that occur in apparently irreversible succession from the past, through the present, into the future, in the general area, or for a specific target in various ways, with the most basic of acts revolving around accelerating, slowing, stopping, and even rewinding or looping it. The range of the affected area is proportional to the mastery of the user, with those at higher levels being able to affect the entire space-time continuum. Since "time" exists and flows within "space", the two are interrelated, and by manipulating time, one is also distorting space proportionally. The effects of this relative distortion can vary, however. For example, controlling the time of a mere object or person may not affect the space they reside in, whereas twisting the time stream of an entire region of space can cause the area itself to warp. Additionally, due to time being so closely intertwined with our three-dimensional space, manipulating it might not affect another dimension, such as heaven or hell, in the same way, it affects our own.

Summoning= the ability to summon and control elementals and spiritual animals, this crystal is normally wielded by those who want to be magically adept. The main profession is being a professor or adventurer, though some may even use a summon for bounty hunting. Demon summons is strictly forbidden and considered quite stupid as they can lead to the castor's death and or imprisonment.

Spirit= the ability to connect with the spiritual plane, the wielder can see, speak and walk through the plane, with their body staying behind in a trance state. They can communicate with the deceased. Wielders of these crystals often work in temples and with the dead, as a priest of death, helping with funerals and giving closure to the living.

list of corrupted powers

Sacrificial= the ability to steal the powerful aura of another to strengthen one's self through the sacrifice of the victim's life. The crystal can give strength of aura, body, and vitality to its owner, giving them longer lives.

Curse= the ability to change a person's life for the worse, the curse can be anything negative of the castor's choice. As long as it negatively affects the victim, each curse by default must have a loophole to break it. There are three ways to break a curse, get the castor to undo it, kill the castor or find the loophole.

Venom= the ability to poison others, death is mostly certain though if one knows healing magic theirs a chance for the victim if administered within the next 5 minutes. It is a deadly but considered lessor of the corrupt powers.

Chaos= the ability to wield chaotic abilities, each time a spell is cast it is random. Though it seems a hindrance to the wielder depending on their emotional state, it can be deadly especially when the wielder is angry.

Corruption= the ability to corrupt other crystals, similar to venom it can also corrupt the victim's body to the point they could die. The only hope for a victim of this crystal is to be taken to be exorcised at a temple, which must be done within 24 hours.

Blood= the ability to wield and control blood, a dark and dangerous crystal as it affects the wielder negatively. Considered perhaps one of the darkest due to its requirement for either the wielders or victims' blood, it can cause the death of the wielder if not careful. It can form weapons of blood and can even allow the wielder to control another's body movements. One of its worst abilities is to cause blood poisoning in the victim leading to them dying painfully.

Necromancy = the ability to summon and control the dead, Necromancy is an illegal magic that many condemn due to its desecration of one's remains, many necromancers are arrested upon their reveal, though in history there have been a few exceptions.

Hypnosis= the ability to control another person or animal by tricking their mind into trusting and working for you. This a direct corruption of the mind crystal, many fear these wielders as autonomy is an important part of this world. Many Hypnosis wielders are arrested on sight when someone spots their crystal, only those with strong wills or null crystals can resist them.
